Sri Lanka gives Kulasekara a perfect farewell with series whitewash
Sri Lanka will dedicate Wednesday’s third international one-day match against Bangladesh to fast-bowler. A player named Nuwan Kulasekara. He silently announced his retirement from international cricket couple days before.
Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement on Monday that he would invite the bowler to watch the game at R. Premadasa Stadium. And organize a ceremony to honor him for the services he had provided for the country’s cricket.
President of SLC Shammi Silva praised Nuwan Kulasekara. He quoted that Kulasekara has been a key player in the Sri-Lankan line-up. And he played outstanding cricket during his reign with the national team.
Kulasekara made his Sri Lankan debut with an ODI against England in 2003 and played a key role in the victory of the 2014 Sri Lanka T20 Men’s World Cup. He was a vital member of the Sri Lanka team, who entered the 2011 Men’s Cricket World Cup final against India, and was the top-ranked Bowler in the IDI ODI rankings for more than six months in 2009. He played the last of 184 ODI against Zimbabwe in July 2017 and has not been selected in any of the formats since.
